Modified Baermann - Lungworms.
For lungworm to be diagnosed in the lab, the animal must be actively coughing. It is very important that the sample for this test is taken directly (rectally) from the animal and arrives in lab within 48 hours. This method is used to detect lungworm larvae from fresh animal faeces.
McMaster Technique - Gut Worms (50 EPG).
Quantitative method used to determine the number of parasite eggs present in animal faeces. It is measured in eggs per gram (EPG). There is a known correlation between egg count and the number of adult worms present in the animal’s gastrointestinal tract.
Sedimentation Technique - Liver and Rumen Fluke eggs.
Detects both rumen and liver fluke eggs in animal faeces. This technique involves distinguishing rumen fluke from liver fluke through microscopic inspection.
