Calf Scour Test (Cryptosporidium, Giardia, E.coli k99, Coronavirus, Rotavirus)

€25.00

This test is done to identify the 5 major pathogens that cause scour in young calves. This rapid test allows for identification of the pathogen, meaning a more targeted treatment, improved herd management and disease control strategies.

Cryptosporidium attacks the intestinal lining of the calf, leading to dehydration, weakness, and weight loss.

Rotavirus can cause intestinal lining damage, resulting in weakness, dehydration, and imbalanced electrolytes.

Coronavirus attacks the intestinal lining of the calf, leading to malabsorption of water and nutrients, which causes severe diarrhoea, weakness and dehydration.

E.coli (K99) is a bacteria that attaches to the intestinal lining and produces toxins that can cause severe diarrhoea, dehydration, fluid loss, extreme weakness and electrolyte imbalances.

Giardia infects the intestines of the animal causing malabsorption of nutrients. It can cause diarroea, weight loss and poor growth. Often it is spread by contaminated water and feed.
