McMaster Technique – Gut Worms (50 EPG)
Quantitative method used to determine the number of parasite eggs present in animal faeces. It is measured in eggs per gram (EPG). There is a known correlation between egg count and the number of adult worms present in the animal’s gastrointestinal tract.
Flotation Technique – Coccidia and Giardia
The flotation technique is used to identify Coccidial oocysts and Giardia-like cysts in animals. As there are many types of coccidia species, this technique allows us to identify the pathogenic from non-pathogenic in bovine samples. A sucrose flotation is also used to identify worm eggs in canine and feline samples. If Giardia is suspected in large animals please notify us on the submission form as we have to do a secondary flotation.
